Anne Fearman for Officer for Contingents
Anne Fearman: Your New Officer for Contingent Concerns!
I am a Contingent/Adjunct Faculty member and running for Officer for Contingent Concerns for our Fredonia chapter. Although I am new to a public role, I have been very active with our chapter for the last three years, becoming a vocal advocate for the rights of those who are precariously employed (like myself).
I received both my B.A. and M.A from Fredonia, and grew up in Dunkirk. I am very familiar with the area’s diverse population and varying needs of our students. I am active in the Senate, as well as in the local school systems. I was raised by a single mother who was the first in her family to receive a college degree. My family has strong ties to union labor and to this community; I am invested in making this campus a second home for all those who labor here.
My first interest is always how the needs of our students can be met but I strongly believe that our students suffer when our adjunct faculty is suffering, From unfair business practices, to poverty-level wages, to lack of job security, the problems our contingent faculty and professional staff face are all challenges I will work hard to alleviate. I know the problems we face on this campus can seem insurmountable, but I believe we can grow a stronger, more diverse and inclusive faculty and professional population under my leadership.
