I want to be your UUP Chapter President.

I have been a union member for more than twenty years and am a product of union activists. I recall stories from my grandparents’ involvement with their respective unions in Wisconsin. My grandmother successfully had her teacher’s union enforce conditions of their contract so that she was hired at an experienced English and History teacher’s salary. My grandfather was a union steward for the City of Milwaukee Police Department’s union. My mother taught me the value of service and being an advocate. So, my understanding of union came from these awesome, inspiring people whose lives and stories fueled my desire to become more active in UUP.

Currently, I am the Membership Development Officer and a professional delegate representative. Here are some of my activities and the events for increasing our membership and members' involvement in our union.

  • Signing and welcoming new Members

  • Faculty Orientation

  • Attending and actively participating in our local Exec Board meetings

  • Writing articles for our newsletter

  • Attending and actively participating in our local workshops and trainings

  • Organized Labor Day Week activities including the March/Rally on the Commons, Union Movie Night, Benefits Day, and Red Fridays (wear red or union gear on Fridays)

  • Attending and actively participating in UUP’s Delegate Assemblies

  • Chapter Action Project (CAP) committee chair

  • Member of Statewide UUP Membership and Solidarity (Vice-chair) standing committees

  • UUP VOTE/COPE Field Organizer

  • Attending and actively participating in leadership trainings offered through NYSUT and NEA

  • Member of our local Dunkirk-Fredonia AFL-CIO Labor Council

With over thirty years of professional, academic and service experience, I know what it takes to find solutions, to inspire, unite and lead to get things done. I look forward to working on your issues. I will emphasize the “U” in our Union.

Thank you for your vote!
